Prior to it, the idea of communicating one’s life experience, personal ideas, was limited to an incredible degree by word of mouth. Through this, we’re able to pass down the beautiful difficulty of a life and species that are evolving, especially cognitively. The musing of those before us serve as a reminder of what it means to love and wade through the suffering that is the human experience, past, present, and future. Cherish this art, it connects us all. Using reading as a tool to connect you to people. To connect your mind with others: past, present, and through writing, the future. When you read, recognize you're having a conversation - a dialogue really - with the author. Their inviting you into their mind, a chance to view our world and life through the eyes of another whose shared this same human experience. ## Nested MOCs - ## Loose Notes *These should be tossed here and cleaned up later* * [[Be comfortable with abandoning books]] * [[Books - quality over quantity]] * [[Don't stray away from difficult books]] * [[Reading for intellectual entertainment]] * [[Reading is something we get better at]] * [[Separate the wheat from the chaff]] * [[You must linger among the master thinkers]] * [[Books are ephemeral, understanding and wisdom are forever]] * [[Read what you love first]] * [[Fiction vs non-fiction]] * [[You don't care about a topic unless you pickup a book on it]] * [[Commit to reading for a month]]
