To see something in black and white is a metaphor for seeing something in a [[Reductive thinking|reductive]] form, often times, sub-consciously. This means that we oversimply a [[Perspective]] on a given matter to the point where we reduce our prospect of representing a true balanced or equitable [[Understanding]] on it by choosing a diluted version of it out of [[Ignorance]]. This typically manifests as an emboldened "one-sided" perspective: you're either black or white.
In this, [[Smart people learn from everything and everyone]], the person with a black and white perspective is the "stupid person who already has all the answers", yet the complexity is that this awareness is not typically known; these people need to be "challenged" to think more broadly and with greater equity, [[The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing]].
The opposite of a "black and white" way of thinking is [[Gray thinking]], which is born from a [[Fervent curiosity]] - living life with a bountiful interest in developing broader [[Understanding]]s of [[Know thyself|yourself]], others, important matters, such as [[Justice]], morality, [[Philosophy (MOC)]], [[Mindfulness (MOC)]], and more. These *are all* areas of "grayness" - they don't have a single truth because they're abstract and interpretive. Thinking in a black and white manner robs one from developing an interest and awareness of understanding at those depths. ^036dd0
Therefore, ==kill the black and white perspective with fire! **Find the gray** in all things! It is not that the gray isn't there, it is that **you choose not to find it** - you're [[Ignorance|ignorant]], regularly willingly and complicitly!== It is not only harmful to you, but it breeds an [[Ignorance]] that harms others while emboldening you to continue to do so. It is not [[Mindfulness (MOC)|mindful]] and [[Altruism|altruistic]].
