# Cheers (TV Show) Created On: 11-25-2023 09:18 am Up:: [[TV Shows (MOC)]] Tags:: #note/evergreen🌲 Topics:: Related:: [[Cheers (TV Show)]] --- [[Chloe]] and I finished watching *Cheers* for the first time on [[2023-11-29]], after beginning the showing on [[2023-05-13]], which is about 5.5 months. [[Chloe]] and I followed this up with [[Frasier (TV Show)]], which is a spinoff from a core character of Cheers, Fraiser Crane. A neat element of this is that we’re watching this as if it were syndicated; *Cheers* and then *Fraiser* - having full awareness of Fraiser Crane’s personality and story before the successful 90s spinoff. I enjoyed this; I enjoyed watching it not through retrospective lenses, but through those of the time. That’s an authentic experience. A representative and thematic term of this show I’d like to coin is the “Cheers Vibe,” as one often finds themselves in when wanting to watch or are actively watching *Cheers*. This “vibe” is a state of relaxation that is difficult to precisely pinpoint, but it is of a lax on adherence to a riveting, and yet requiring deep engagement, story. Yet, you find yourself, along for a ride, smitten with the charm of the directionless and nearsighted lives led by most all those who find themselves in the famed Boston bar. And for that, there is a rest to one’s soul - a vibe elicited: purposeless yet comforting, homely and authentic to human nature, and as a result: worth cherishing. I know I’ll miss it, as I already do. I believe this element would be missing if one watched [[Frasier (TV Show)]] before *Cheers*. At the very least, it’d be more difficult to experience to the depth it deserves.
