We started and finished it in 2023 and it was a marvelous experience - I highly recommend it. While I thought it was great, in retrospect, now having watched more anime, **I wouldn't recommend it first**. It's darker than most may prefer and it may dissuade them from continuing to pursue the anime medium. Therefore, I'd put it in the "top three to recommend", but it certainly wouldn't be first.
