Together they form a powerful partnership that emboldens the productivity of the [[Zettelkasten]]. Permanent notes are a fundamental [[Zettelkasten]] concept. It differentiates the *type* of content and the overarching goal of a Zettelkasten system between it and, most importantly, literature or reference notes. Unlike a literature note, a permanent note is written in your own words and subscribes to the [[Principle of Atomicity]]. Neither of those things are true of fleeting or literature notes. Therefore, it serves to separate those concepts of note types. On the other side, evergreen notes continue to change and enable [[Emergence (MOC)]] as your vault and the notes within it evolve and mature. For more information on this, see the [[Evergreen note concept]].
