A digital garden is a PKM metaphor for not only the collection of notes that makeup your PKM system, but also a lifecycle of them. ^e86002
A garden is a place where seeds are sewn and grown into flowers through a lifecycle of constant growth and life. Additionally, plants also cross-pollinate and generate unique and beautiful species. In many ways, we can think of the same as true for a [[Zettelkasten]]-style note taking system. ^4118a8
In this space, seeds (ideas) are planted as seedlings ([[Fleeting note]]s). Through tending and watering (writing), these seeds mature into unique and individual flowers ([[Permanent note]]s). These flowers can cross-pollinate (links) and generate new breeds of flowers ([[Emergence (MOC)|emergent]] ideas). These flowers continue to live and even change ([[Evergreen note concept]]).
A digital garden is a respite for your mind. A place to offload, yet nurture those very offloaded items. It is a place for ideas to mingle and grow together, creating a vast garden of not knowledge, but understanding, and hopefully, wisdom: [[The knowledge, understanding, and wisdom funnel]].
To understand more of the “why I do this”, see [[Why I nurture a digital garden]].
