Knowledge are the facts and information associated with a given topic, skill, etc. This information is typically very quantitative or [[Black and white thinking]] - not very interpretative. The acquisition of knowledge is often associated with direct experience and research. ^9cd4f3
Just because one has "knowledge of a subject", does not mean they have an [[Understanding]] of it. For example, just because one knows the statistics of a football quarterback (knowledge), does not mean they have a deep understanding of what it means *to be* a great quarterback.
There is a separation of maturity in thought and awareness between knowledge and [[Understanding]]. However, **knowledge is often the pathway to developing true understanding**, yet it does not happen by accident; it often times requires some form of intentionality, such as asking broader questions and finding answers to them.
In [[Philosophy (MOC)]], [[Epistemology (MOC)]] is the study of and theories of knowledge.
