This most often takes the form of article content, quotes, videos, course material, book notes, and more - anything that isn't from your mind. ^e5a2d5 This information is "processed" to generate [[Permanent note]]s and are eventually retained as reference notes. This enables you to "trace" your permanent ideas back to their "source", whether that be an online video, article, or book. Processing entails taking notes within the literature notes (see [[10 Template - Literature Note#Notes|template section]]), which serves as the jumping off points for [[Principle of Atomicity|atomic]] permanent notes. In my particular [[My PKM workflow#**Planting** - 2|note workflow]], I combine the concept of a Literature note and a [[Fleeting note]] to create "fleeting literature notes". This helps synonymize the workflow of both internalized and externalized information sources.
