# Principle of Atomicity

This is a foundational principle of [[Zettelkasten]] that influences the atomic nature of drafting [[Permanent note]]s. Through this principle, there is one single goal: ==Each note should be a single and linkable idea: **composable**==.
It is, however, important to note that, through the concept of [[Evergreen note concept|evergreen notes]], [[Permanent note]]s do tend to "change" over time, meaning that they continue to evolve in a more succinct and helpful way. Even more tangibly, less atomic notes are sharded from a single broader/less-atomic note to make more succinct atomic notes - this is the evergreen concept in work.
