I don't think this is true - I do think we evolve and learn to be better readers. Through repetition and experience, as with everything else in life, we refine and temper what it takes to "define" and "execute" at the next level. Tangibly, this may be evolving the way we mine and ultimately derive value from a book. This is something that the book [[How to Read a Book (Book)]] explores extensively.
